Question: How to run Synchredible as a Service?
Answer: On all Windows systems since Windows Vista (or on server versions since Windows Server 2008), Synchredible can be started as a service via Windows Task Scheduler without requiring a user to be logged on to the system. The program therefore operates as a Windows-controlled service that can perform synchronizations independently of a user login.
All that is needed to do this is to change the post-installation task "Synchredible-USERNAME" in Windows Task Scheduler (which can be found via Windows Search for the keyword "Task Scheduler") as follows:
Instead of "Run only when user is logged on" you must enable the "Run whether user is logged on or not" option.
In addition, the trigger "At startup" must be selected under "Trigger" instead of "At log on".
After these changes, the system should be restarted, alternatively, Synchredible can be stopped and the task that has just been changed can be started.
Note that the Synchredible tray icon is not displayed in this type of execution; the program runs virtually as a service invisible in the background. It is therefore important to use the option of sending reports by e-mail to inform you whether the synchronization jobs created have been performed correctly.
Important: To process jobs, you must finish the ongoing task through task scheduling and restart Synchredible from the desktop of the user under which the software was set up. After all the changes have been made, Synchredible should be completely terminated and the task should be restarted via task scheduling.
Question: Can Synchredible synchronize Cloud Storage such as Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive or Dropbox?
Answer: Yes, Synchredible can be used to synchronize all popular cloud storage. Depending on the cloud service, programs are available directly from the provider that integrate cloud storage as a virtual folder into Windows Explorer (e.g. Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive or Dropbox).
If the cloud service you use does not offer such integration for Windows, the data transfer can also be done via WebDAV or SMB, provided that supported by the operator (e.g. MagentaCloud, Strato HiDrive). Synchredible allows you to select WebDAV/SMB drives from the folder selection in Step 1 of Job Creation.
If you have any questions about cloud synchronization, our technical customer service is at your disposal!
Question: Is it possible to synchronize a web server via SFTP with Synchredible?
Answer: Yes. While Synchredible itself doesn't support SFTP, you can easily map your web server on Windows 10/11 with the help of the following instructions and access it as if it were a normal drive:
SFTP instructions
Note: To set the same file access rights when uploading that are set by FTP clients by default, you must create a .reg file with the following content and run it once:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\WinFsp\Services\sshfs]
"CommandLine"="svc %1 %2 %U -o create_dir_umask=000 -o create_file_umask=111"
Question: Can Synchredible copy exclusively opened files?
Answer: Starting with version 7, Synchredible can copy exclusively opened files. This is supported by the Volume Shadow Copy Service from Windows (VSS). Select "Create shadow copies" under "Options", "Shadow copies (VSS)" to enable this functionality in Synchredible.
Please make sure that Synchredible is started with administrator rights and that the Volume Shadow Copy Service is enabled.
Question: Can I synchronize my smartphone with Synchredible?
Answer: With the combination of Windows 11's Smartphone Link app and Synchredible, you can easily synchronize your pictures, videos, and documents between your smartphone and your Windows 11-PC. To do this, set up the pre-installed Smartphone Link app on your Windows 11 device and connect your smartphone. Your smartphone will now be displayed in Windows Explorer and can be selected in Synchredible for data synchronization.
For information on how to set up the Smartphone Link app, see Microsoft website.
Question: How can I permanently store network/NAS credentials for Synchredible?
Answer: Synchredible uses the credentials stored in Windows.
To ensure that scheduled tasks (e.g., via the Task Scheduler) can reliably access your network/NAS, the login information must be stored permanently in Windows.
To do this, open a Command Prompt as Administrator and enter the following command:
cmdkey /add:NAS-NAME /user:NAS-USERNAME /pass:NAS-PASSWORD
Example:
cmdkey /add:192.168.1.10 /user:backupuser /pass:MyPassword123
Question: Mapped network drive not visible in Synchredible, why?
Answer: Synchredible runs with administrator privileges by default, while network drives are usually mapped as standard users and are therefore not visible to administrators.
Solution 1: Run Synchredible without administrator privileges
Exit Synchredible by right-clicking Synchredibe tray icon, click "Close" and restart Synchredible via the desktop shortcut (without administrator rights).
In case that you always want to start Synchredible without administrator rights, also change the "Synchredible-USERNAME" task in the Windows Task Scheduler:
1. Type "Task Scheduler" in the search box of the Windows taskbar and start Task Scheduler.
2. Click "Task Scheduler Library" and double-click the "Synchredible-USERNAME" task.
3. Uncheck the "Run with highest privileges" option and click "OK".
Solution 2: Enable SMB features and LinkedConnections
1. Type "Windows Features" in the search box of the Windows taskbar and click "Turn Windows features on or off".
2. Enable the "SMB Direct" and "SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support" options (any) and click OK.

Question: What can I do if Synchredible fails to connect to a mapped drive?
Answer: Mapped network drives (e.g. Z:\) can lose their connection, especially with SSHFS, SSH, or cloud storage connections. This often occurs after:
• Inactivity or timeout
• Standby/sleep mode of the computer
• Network change (WLAN/LAN)
• System reboot
In this case, the drive is registered in Windows, but the actual connection to the server is disconnected. Synchredible cannot access the drive.
Solution 1: Use UNC path instead of drive letter
Use the direct UNC path (e.g. \\sshfs\user@server.com\ or \\192.168.1.100\share\) instead of the mapped drive (e.g. Z:\).
Advantage: The connection is automatically established when needed, independent of the drive letter.
How to find your UNC path:
1. Open Windows Explorer
2. Right-click on the mapped drive
3. The UNC path is displayed under "Network location" or "Target"
Solution 2: Manually connect the drive
Before synchronization, open Windows Explorer once and access the drive (e.g. by clicking on Z:\ in the address bar). Windows will then automatically re-establish the connection.
Solution 3: Start Synchredible without administrator rights
If Synchredible runs with administrator rights, it may not be able to access mapped network drives that were created in the normal user context.
How to disable admin rights:
1. Enter "Task Scheduler" in the Windows taskbar search field and start the Task Scheduler
2. Click on "Task Scheduler Library" and double-click the task "Synchredible-USERNAME"
3. Disable the option "Run with highest privileges" and click "OK"
4. Restart Synchredible
Note: UNC paths (see Solution 1) work more reliably with admin rights than mapped drives.

Synchredible offers a comprehensive solution to sync data on Windows 11, 10, 8, and 7. The software supports all common storage media and scenarios:
What sets Synchredible apart from other file synchronization software is the combination of speed, security, and intelligence:
Lightning-Fast Synchronization: Thanks to intelligent duplicate detection, Synchredible only transfers new or modified files. Even with extensive datasets containing hundreds of thousands of files, synchronization occurs within seconds instead of hours.
Bidirectional Sync: Unlike simple backup tools, Synchredible enables true two-way synchronization. Changes in both folders are automatically detected and synchronized – you always work with the latest version of your files.
Automation Without Effort: Set up your sync jobs once and let Synchredible do the rest. The software can work on a schedule (daily, weekly, monthly), sync in real-time when changes occur, or start automatically when a USB drive is connected.
Security Through VSS Support: Synchredible can backup open and locked files via the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) – such as databases or Outlook files that normally cannot be copied.
Flexible Filters and Options: Determine exactly which files should be synchronized. Exclude temporary files, certain file types, or folders, or sync only files within a specific date range.
Synchredible is available as a free Standard Edition for personal users. Whether you want to sync files between laptop and PC, create a backup to external hard drive, or sync folders in your home network – the software offers professional features at no cost.
